Contacts
Band colour = period; texture = dominant rock type. Lines between bands mark the contact type; dotted = no contact recorded in the sources (not a claim of conformity). True scale makes height ∝ recorded thickness; hatched = thickness not recorded. Ages approximate, for ordering.
This unit (highlighted) within its province column; faded ends continue above and below. Line style marks the contact type.

Name & nomenclature (1)
-
Attested in Shah (2009), Geological Survey of Pakistan Memoir 22, which describes it as Khatkiara Member, upper member of the Tredian Formation (Danilchik & Shah 1967). Adds the definitional GSP/SCP lexicon citation.

Lithology (2)
-
Kazmi & Jan (1997): the 'Khatkiara Member' (Danilchik et al. 1967) is the upper part of the Middle Triassic Tredian Formation — 38–59 m of massive-to-thick-bedded sandstone with thin dolomite interbeds above the Landa Member, grading up into the Kingriali Formation.
Kazmi, A.H. & Jan, M.Q. (1997)
-
Hemphill & Kidwai (1973, USGS PP 716-B): the Khatkiara Sandstone Member (upper Tredian; name of Danilchik & Shah 1973 replacing Gee's 'Kingriali sandstone') is ~150 ft of brown/white soft friable micaceous sandstone, dolomitic near the top with grey/black shale; its base is disconformable (a basal conglomerate with limonitized plant fragments).
Hemphill, W.R. & Kidwai, A.H. (1973)
