An Eocene river-and-coastal molasse of the Sibi/Kingri area, similar to the Toi Formation.
Named by Malkani (2009), type section northwest of Kingri town, the Kingri Formation is red-to-maroon calcareous shale and mudstone with subordinate grey sandstone, about 700 m thick, representing floodplain and channel deposits. It extends from Mach and Johan (Kalat) northward to Hangu, where it is called the Gurguri Sandstone. Its lower contact with the Toi Formation and upper contact with the Drug Formation are disconformable. A distinctive mammal fauna is reported from the Kingri/Toi interval (Gingerich et al., 2001); on stratigraphic position its age is Early Eocene.

Economic significance
Hosts Early Eocene coal; a source of silica sand and building sandstone.

An Eocene continental-to-paralic (molasse) unit of the Sibi/Kingri area, broadly equivalent to the Toi Formation of the Ghazij Group.
