FULL TEXT REVIEWED (reviewer-supplied scan; title reconstructed from content). Pakistani-Chinese collaborative mapping of the Upper Hunza Valley (UHV), North Karakoram. Establishes five mappable formations, oldest to youngest: Gircha Formation, Pak-China Friendship Formation (= Dih Formation), Passu Slate, Gujal Dolomite and Shanoz Conglomerate; the faunally-dated succession ranges from Late Permian to Late Cretaceous-Early Tertiary. The NNW-SSE Sost Anticline is the major structure and controls the stratigraphic frame; the Gircha Formation occupies its core and is the oldest exposed unit (base not exposed, presumed to unconformably overlie the Dumordo Formation / Baltit Group). Used to corroborate the Gircha Formation; the four other UHV units are not yet in the dataset.
This page is the reverse of each unit's per-field citations — it shows exactly what this reference supports, making the dataset's “no source, no fact” rule browsable both ways.

- Geological significance: Corroborated by Tahirkheli et al. (1990): the Gircha Formation is the oldest exposed formation of the Upper Hunza Valley (North Karakoram), occupying the core of the Sost Anticline. Its base is not exposed but is presumed to unconformably overlie the Dumordo Formation / Baltit Group. It is the base of a faunally-dated UHV succession (Gircha - Pak-China Friendship/Dih - Passu Slate - Gujal Dolomite - Shanoz Conglomerate) that ranges from Late Permian to Late Cretaceous-Early Tertiary.
