Structure of the Main Mantle Thrust (MMT) zone at Babusar Pass, where the suture narrows to ~1 km and comprises three thrusts (Babusar, Tatabai, Kohistan) enclosing two Indus-Suture-Melange-Group melanges (Babusar Ultramafic Melange, Tatabai Metavolcanic Melange) between the Indian-plate Sharda Group (footwall, S) and the Kohistan Arc amphibolites (hanging wall, N). Six-phase deformation (D1 subduction -> D4 obduction -> D6 neotectonic Raikot Fault). The MMTZ marks a metamorphic break from upper-amphibolite facies (kyanite-sillimanite, pre-obduction) in the Sharda Group to lower greenschist facies in the arc and melanges.
This page is the reverse of each unit's per-field citations — it shows exactly what this reference supports, making the dataset's “no source, no fact” rule browsable both ways.

- Geological significance: Spencer, Ghazanfar & Chaudhry (1989): at Babusar Pass the Sharda Group is the Indian-plate footwall of the Main Mantle Thrust - amphibolite-facies marbles, amphibolites, quartz-feldspar gneisses and garnet-mica, graphitic and chloritic schists preserving a pre-collisional kyanite-sillimanite, upper-amphibolite metamorphism (retrogressed during obduction). It is structurally overridden, along the Babusar Thrust, by the Babusar Ultramafic Melange and then the Kohistan Arc (via the Tatabai and Kohistan thrusts) of the Indus Suture Melange Group, across a metamorphic break down to lower greenschist facies.
