Full text reviewed (reviewer-supplied scan, OCR'd). Sedimentology of the Early Eocene (by fossil content) Ghazij Formation in the Kach area, Baluchistan. Treats Ghazij as a FORMATION (not a group): 590 m thick at the Spintangi type section; conformably overlies the Dungan/Laki formations and Ranikot Group (Paleocene) and underlies the Kirthar Formation (Upper Eocene). Dominantly variegated calcareous shales with subordinate sandstone and conglomerate, alabaster and coal seams; deltaic origin with turbidites in the lower shale-dominant part and an upper shale-dominant marine-transgressive top; palaeocurrents generally east-to-west. Earlier workers subdivided it into the Baska Shales (Alabaster Member) and Matap Conglomerate Member (Oldham 1890; Williams 1959; HSC 1961). Coal mined at Sor Range, Degari, Duki, Mach and Sharigh.
