Full text reviewed (user-supplied PDF). Independent primary palaeontology. Late Devonian (near the Frasnian-Famennian boundary) trilobites from the Shogrâm Formation (Devonian, Givetian-Famennian; ~230 m shale-limestone-arenite) on the SW flank of the Kurâgh Spur, Chitral. Erects Neocalmonia chitralensis sp. nov. and Neocalmonia batillifera orientalis subsp. nov. (Asteropyginae), extending Asteropyginae eastward from Iran and southern Afghanistan. The Upper Kellwasser Event is located within unit KUR 19 of Talent et al. (1999). Also names the associated older Middle Palaeozoic Chitral units - Charun Quartzite, Lun Shale, Chilmarabad Formation - as pre-Shogrâm; conodont-based biochronologic framework from Talent et al. (1999).
This page is the reverse of each unit's per-field citations — it shows exactly what this reference supports, making the dataset's “no source, no fact” rule browsable both ways.

- Age: Feist, Talent & Mawson (2001) AGE FLAG: this paper lists the 'Lun Shale' among the older Middle Palaeozoic units of Chitral (with the Charun Quartzite and Chilmarabad Formation) that underlie the Devonian (Givetian–Famennian) Shogrâm Formation — implying a Silurian–Devonian (Middle Palaeozoic) age, which CONFLICTS with this record's curated 'Permian–Triassic (Mesozoic)' age. Given the curated age is itself attributed to Gaetani et al. (Chitral 1996) and Kazmi & Jan (1997), the discrepancy likely reflects either a homonym or a mis-correlation and is flagged for reconciliation against the primary Chitral Devonian literature; not overwritten.

- Fossils: Feist, Talent & Mawson (2001): Late Devonian trilobites from near the Frasnian–Famennian boundary in the Shogrâm Formation on the SW flank of the Kurâgh Spur (~230 m shale-limestone-arenite succession) — a new asteropygine Neocalmonia chitralensis sp. nov. and Neocalmonia batillifera orientalis subsp. nov. (from unit KUR 9B), extending the Asteropyginae eastward from Iran and southern Afghanistan; an earlier Reed (1922) form (Dalmanites (Asteropyge) koraghensis) is reassignable to Heliopyge. The Upper Kellwasser Event is located within unit KUR 19 (Talent et al. 1999).
