The Pab Range is the type area of the Maastrichtian Pab Sandstone — thick shallow-marine to deltaic quartz sandstones marking the top of the Cretaceous in the Kirthar–Sulaiman region and an important regional reservoir sandstone.

White, cream or brown, thick-bedded to massive, cross-bedded, medium- to coarse-grained quartzose sandstone with subordinate argillaceous limestone and shale.
